Psychosocial Assistance Without Borders

to promote training and support that sustain relief workers who work selflessly in our world’s crisis situations

As a platform, PAWB now does work in multiple ways.  Primarily, we work through the professional services firm Greenleaf Integrative Strategies, LLC.  For your reference, much of PAWB's intellectual work is currently archived at the website of Dr. Siddharth Ashvin Shah.

We in Greenleaf Integrative Strategies play a supportive role to practitioners (therapists, spiritual care providers & health care workers) in order to enhance the sustainability of disaster response.

It is of the utmost importance that practitioners do not
prematurely burnout or develop trauma themselves in the process of working in the midst of terrorized people. Supervisors and organizations can learn how to manage practitioners’ stress levels with self-care and other methodologies in order to mitigate vicarious traumatization, secondary traumatic stress and compassion fatigue.

All too often, relief workers, volunteers, and caregivers are overworked, or they are underprepared to provide psychosocial treatment.  Our goal is to ensure that we retain these workers (rather than burn them out), and teach them sustainable, culturally-appropriate ways to give disaster victims psychosocial first aid.
